Angela Princewill

Founding Lawyer
Angela Princewill is the founding partner of AP Lawyers, a law firm serving Durham Region and the Greater Toronto Area.

Angela’s practice is focused on Family Law and Immigration Law matters. She assists clients with family law matters such as divorce, child support, spousal support, custody, access, domestic contracts and property division. Her immigration practice includes appearance at the Immigration Appeal Division, Immigration and Refugee Board, and the Federal Court of Canada. Angela has helped many succeed in immigrating to Canada through success applications to Citizenship and Immigration Canada under various categories including family and spousal sponsorships, skilled worker applications, work permit applications, business/ investor Immigration.
Angela Princewill is compassionate but very aggressive in representing her clients’ interests.  She gives honest advice to her clients and utilizes every legal tool including alternative dispute resolution, to achieve her clients’ goals.
Legal issues can be very stressful for clients so we make navigating the legal maze as easy as possible.
Angela Princewill attended the University of Windsor and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2008.

Andreina Minicozzi

Associate Lawyer
A lawyer with a shining track record and truly benevolent character, Andreina is an Associate Lawyer at A.P Lawyers and is truly invaluable to our team. After completing law school at the University of Ottawa and her Masters’ degree from the Norman Patterson School of International Affairs (NPSIA), she was called to the Ontario Bar in 2015.

Andreina understands the stress that comes with needing a family lawyer, and works to make such a difficult time go smoothly with compassion and expertise. Out of respect for her clients, Andreina is always considerate, yet realistic when advising on the next steps of solving their matters. Andreina adopts a sensible approach when reviewing litigation matters or negotiating settlements, and does not shy away from confrontation in order to ensure her clients receive the best possible solutions. Andreina’s passion for family law, social justice, and immigration is fuelled by her background and empathetic personality. She currently volunteers at the Canadian Lawyers for International Human Rights, an organization that promotes international human rights from a Canadian perspective. Her talent and knowledge in the field has led her to publish multiple articles pertaining to human trafficking and how it has evolved over the past decade in Canada.

When Andreina is outside of the office, she enjoys spinning, rock climbing and learning about international wines. In addition to English, Andreina is fluent in Italian and Spanish.

Anisa Dattu

Associate Lawyer
Anisa is a Associate Lawyer here at AP Lawyers. After completing her LL.B (Hons) at Newcastle Law School in the United Kingdom, Anisa worked tirelessly for over 4 years in the field before being called to the Ontario Bar in 2017.

Anisa’s passions lie in both immigration and family law. You can trust that she will put her whole heart into your file, and work only with your best interest in mind. She practices in all family law areas, including divorce, custody, access, child support, spousal support, and property issues. As well, she is skilled in all immigration areas, including temporary residence, permanent residence, immigration refusals, Labour Market Impact Assessments, and family sponsorship (which includes her favourite area of immigration law – spousal sponsorships!). Anisa is also available to draft Marriage Opinion Letters.

While Anisa is not the tallest in our office, she definitely makes a big impact with her vibrant attitude, willingness to assist, smile, and confidence. Her sparing free time is spent with family and friends, partaking in skating, singing, traveling, and trying out new recipes. Anisa speaks Kutchi, Gujarati and basic Hindi and Urdu.

A trusted lawyer with remarkable judgment and determination, Anisa is a pivotal member of the AP Lawyers team.

Cara Vaughn

Head of Accounting Department
Cara is the Head of our Accounting Department at AP Lawyers and is a Licensed Paralegal with the Law Society of Upper Canada. For almost 20 years prior to becoming a paralegal Cara worked in the Design and Layout field creating everything from brochures and posters, to magazines and computer software manuals.

Before starting her career at AP Lawyers, Cara worked for a Paralegal office with roles including administrative, day to day client bookkeeping and drafting claims for both Small Claims and Landlord Tenant Board.

In her spare time, Cara values the time she gets to spend with her kids, family, and friends.

Afras Khattak

Law Clerk
Afras is a Law Clerk at AP Lawyers. He completed his Bachelor of Arts in Criminology at York University. Afras is currently a third-year law student at the Faculty of Law, Thompson Rivers University, in British Columbia. He is also completing his MBA online through The Business School, Edinburgh Napier University, located in the United Kingdom.

Apart from his educational endeavours, Afras has a strong passion for family law and he consistently keeps up to date on emerging issues regarding the formation of families, the regulation of intact families, and the dissolution of family relationships. Afras also understands that family matters can be very sensitive. His hands-on and compassionate approach is there to help you stay positive and keep level headed when faced with these life changing issues.

In his spare time, Afras enjoys keeping active and playing basketball. He is also a die-hard Toronto Raptors fan.

Rosanna Carrillo

Legal Assistant
Prior to studying Legal Administration at Centennial College in Scarborough, Ontario, Rosanna spent her days and nights attending to thousands of travelers at the busy Pearson International Airport in Toronto as a Passenger Service Agent. Assisting and welcoming newcomers and visitors to Canada as they first arrive for years has made her compassionate in assisting with immigration and family matters. Rosanna has also worked in a boutique law firm assisting a variety of clients with their legal needs.

Growing up in a multicultural city drew Rosanna towards learning about all the culture this city has to offer. On her free time, she enjoys exploring- taking road trips to small towns in Ontario, hikes on local trails across the city and trying new restaurants. In addition to English Rosanna speaks Spanish.

Stefanie Mandl

Law Clerk

Stefanie is a family law clerk at AP Lawyers.  She brings a different background to the legal field, completing a B.Sc in Environmental Sustainability and Marine Biology from Dalhousie University, during which she completed a range of international research internships.  She has recently graduated with an LL.B (hons.) degree in 2017, from the University of Sussex in England and is currently in the process of completing her Canadian legal qualifications. Stefanie brings diverse international experiences to this role.  She completed two summer internships within a small claims and family courthouse in Toronto, developing her knowledge about the Canadian court process.  She also completed work placements in Edinburgh and England. While at law school Stefanie engaged in a diverse range of legal competitions, including client interviewing and mooting competitions that led her to moot internationally in Dublin.  She is dedicated to providing a wide range of support to the firm’s family law clients and her outgoing positive attitude allows for a welcoming environment.  She is compassionate and understands the importance of being present in hard times.

Outside of the office, Stefanie enjoys playing soccer, spinning, snowboarding and travelling.

Sherine Abdi

Articling Student
Sherine is currently our Student-at-law here at AP Lawyers. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (hons.) degree in Criminology from University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT). She graduated law school with an LL.B (hons.) degree in 2016 from the University of Leicester and is expected to be called to the Bar in June 2018.

Prior to joining AP Lawyers, Sherine has experience in other areas of law including civil and corporate law matters. Sherine has a great admiration and passion for family law, human rights and social injustices. She also understands the personal dynamics and the complex diverse features in situations that can arise in family law matters. She is dedicated in providing and assisting legal needs with professionalism, compassion and integrity. Sherine is currently a member of the Durham Legal Community Clinic and the Ontario Bar Association.

Sherine also fluently speaks Arabic to better assist clients. In her spare time, Sherine enjoys travelling, experiencing diverse cultures, volunteering within the community and spending time with family/friends.

Jacynthe Spence

Jacynthe is currently in the process of completing her Bachelor of Arts with a major in Criminology and a minor in Psychology at Ryerson University. After completing her Bachelor of Arts, she plans on attending law school in order to obtain her LLB.  Jacynthe has always been passionate about the legal industry. After doing a paid summer internship with CIC, she further realized that becoming a lawyer was the ideal career path for her.

Jacynthe is a retired competitive swimmer. During her spare time, she loves to tap into her artistic side and create new paintings. She also enjoys going for runs, doing yoga, meditating, and going on adventures and discovering new places to eat around Toronto.  In addition Jacynthe is fluent in French.

Dave Florek

Process Server
Dave is our Process Server. Dave owns and operates Process Serving AACES and has been serving and filing court documents throughout Southern Ontario since 2012. Dave cares about the environment and drives a plug-in hybrid vehicle to help reduce our carbon footprint.   Dave also teaches youth about our environment and mentors them to become valuable, self-sufficient members of our community in his volunteer role with Scouts Canada.

Before starting his career as a Process Server, Dave attended Ryerson University and held various management positions in the retail and service industries and was appointed as a national trainer that was sent coast to coast across Canada.

Lori Acroyd

Real Estate Law Clerk
Lori is a qualified legal assistant with over 40 years of experience in the real estate field. An expert in all things real estate law, Lori has handled hundreds of files with great success throughout her career. Her confidence, upbeat personality, and extensive knowledge bring a sense of assurance to all of our clients who work with her. Lori works alongside Angela with our real estate clients, ensuring the utmost quality and detail is put into each file.
Outside of work, Lori enjoys attending hot yoga classes, golfing, walking her dog Maddie, and traveling to countless destinations with her loved ones.

Jennifer Colangelo

Real Estate Law Clerk
Jennifer has been working in the real estate field for over 45 years. An essential member of the AP Lawyers team, Jennifer works alongside Lori and Angela to ensure no detail is overlooked with our real estate files. Jennifer is also our Wills & Estates expert, having years of experience preparing wills and powers of attorney. Her keen eye for detail, patience, and compassionate personality make her a wonderful part of our team.
Outside of our office, Jennifer puts top priority on spending time with her family, but also enjoys partaking in games of baseball, swimming, and cooking up a storm in the kitchen.

Elizabeth Strange

Real Estate Legal Assistant
Liz is a legal assistant at AP Lawyers and mainly assists with our real estate files. She is currently entering the final year of her undergrad at the Queens School of Business in Kingston, Ontario. Inspired by the dedication and expertise of the talented women at AP Lawyers, she is seriously considering a future in law post-graduation. After studying abroad in Norway, she is greatly interested in global affairs and learning more about international cultures. When outside of the office, Liz’s free time is spent with friends, out running, or dreaming of her next travel adventure.
